Dusty & I drove through a small town in Iowa, called Swedesburg during our recent travels. We noticed a quaint Scandinavian museum with a huge dala horse. Having close family friend with a proud Swedish heritage, we stopped at The Swedish American Museum to snap some photos. We hoped to show our love and support while learning more about this culture.

The traditional wooden carving of Dalecarlian horses, also known as Dala horses, originated in the Swedish province of Dalarna (Dalecarlia). Painted in the local designs from the regions they’re manufactured, and most commonly used as children’s toys, they became a symbol of Sweden.
