We all love rainbows and finding a pot of gold at the end would be wonderful.

Celebrate this day by finding your ray of hope. Click on the image for more details.

When I opened my front door, I saw this and ran back to get my camera. I didn’t realise it was a double rainbow till I saw the picture. They are beautiful things to be admired and enjoyed.

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is something we all hope to find and put our own interpretation on it.

It originated from an Irish folk tale and a leprechaun granting an old couple a wish. He told them he’d hidden a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and all you have to do is find it. Since then we’ve all been searching for it in different ways in the hope our luck will change.

I once found a valuable piece of gold under that very rainbow. It was a broach that belonged to my great, great, grandmother and given to me in blue box by an aunt. When we moved house I had the box, but the broach was missing. I was heartbroken.

A few weeks later something glistened on the grass by the gate, and there it was. When we moved in there had been an accident with a cupboard and it must have fallen out. I was lucky that day.

The properties and behaviour of light, and how it interacts with droplets of water, give rise to one of nature’s most colourful meteorological events – the rainbow.
