Today is National Love Your Pet Day. This observance is all about appreciating the adopted members in our family who complete our lives. Not only do they bring us great joy, but they also bless us with incredible health benefits.
Studies have shown that the bond between people and their pets is linked to several health benefits, including:
- Decreased blood pressure, cholesterol levels, triglyceride levels, feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and symptoms of PTSD.
- Increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities; better cognitive function in older adults; and more opportunities to socialize
“Many people find having a pet can play a critical role in reducing feelings of depression, anxiety, isolation, and loneliness.”https://www.dhs.gov/employee-resources/news/2023/02/15/national-love-your-pet-day
