

Chanukah, or Hannukah (also known as the Festival of Lights), is an eight day celebration. This is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the the re-dedication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem, which occurred during the Maccabean Revolt in 167-160 BCE. This is celebrated on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which correlates to sometime in late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. Though it is considered a minor religious event, it has gain significance, particularly in America, due to its alignment with Christmas and the holiday season.
