This month every year, we officially celebrate the art of sewing. Something that many of us enjoy all year round.

Sewing was once a necessary chore, but these days many do it purely for pleasure.

We have President Ronald Reagan to thank for making this declaration for September each year.

“In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.”

President Reagan, 1982

Wikipedia nicely describes it as the craft of fastening or attaching objects using stitches made with a sewing needle and thread.

Nowadays the art of sewing takes many forms. Here is a list of a few you may like to try.

  • Embroidery
  • Patchwork
  • Cross Stitch
  • Dress Making
  • Cushion Making
