March is the time when America to recognizes National Women’s History Month. Within this month, we also enjoy the observances of International Women’s Day (March 8th annually) and International Women’s Week (the week of March 8th). With all the amazing women in history, there’s a lot to celebrate!

The purpose of these observances is to honor women who have fought for equality among all races and genders and to bring awareness to gender parity. These rights (according to nationaldaycalendar.com) include:

  • healthcare
  • education
  • employment / economic gain
  • pay
  • protection under the law
  • right to vote
  • free from violence

And Women’s Week focuses on five pillars:

  • Building relationships
  • Self-knowledge
  • Sexual assault & interpersonal violence
  • Healthy self-image
  • Leadership development.

International Women’s Day celebrates the global accomplishments of women. These include but are not limited to social, economical, and political achievements.
