On August 14, 1945, U.S. President Harry S. Truman announced that Japan had surrendered, inciting spontaneous celebrations.
World Word II had officially ended.
The inspiration, perseverance, and sacrifice of this Greatest Generation has become known as the Spirit of ’45. That undying “can-do attitude” allowed these tested and tried people to endure, and is what, and who, we honor.
