You know me and literacy, however, this is even more than that – this is family! Reading with your kids is a great way to spend quality family time. It gives you a chance to share ideas and to learn new things together. Oh – what if you decided to act out a story (whether verbally or theatrically)? You could make your own home video. The fun is endless. And, to boot, it benefits the development of you kids.
As NationalDayCalendar.com put it, benefits of reading aloud include (but are not limited to) heling your child to “acquire a larger vocabulary” while “building a connection between the spoken and written word”. It, also, helps to increase your child’s attention span while it strengthens their cognition (which is supported by research, of course). NationalDayCalendar.com added that it provides “a safe way to explore strong emotions”.
